The C4C team are absolutely delighted to confirm that they have smashed their target of raising over €1 Million euros for Cancer Charities across Europe following the completion of this year’s EPIC ride from the Cancer Research UK Headquarters in London all the way to Antibes, France.
This year’s event, the fourth since C4C began, saw the biggest team yet (30 riders and 12 support crew) take on the longest and toughest ride in the history of the event and we are very proud to confirm that every single rider completed the entire distance of over 1450 km during the 10-day period.
Cogs 4 Cancer has once again shown what can be achieved when positive people work together and get behind the same common goal.
With sponsorship from some of the most recognised and respected companies in the industry together with iconic celebrity support the C4C team really did pull out all the stops this year to ensure that the target was smashed.
Cogs 4 Cancer President Ben Young explained, “with a bold target firmly in our sights from day one, it was clear that this year’s event needed to be bigger than ever before – hence the decision to set off from CRUK in London” he added “the efforts put in by the riders this year were absolutely incredible, none of us had ever ridden anything like that kind of distance before and I can confirm that 10 days in the saddle for an average of 9 hours per day is a very, very long time !!!” he added “When C4C first came about I was really lucky to be offered a place and I think it’s fair to say that none of us ever imagined how far the charity would come in such a short space of time – proof indeed that the yachting industry is a wonderful place to work”
None of this would have happened without the amazing support team who quite simply make the whole thing possible. From Gabi and Helen at Gourmet Deliveries, who have been part of this since day 1, to the wonderful Debs at Marine Medical. Also the incredible Osteopaths Claudia, Steve and Ryan from the European School of Osteopathy, Chef Ruth Williams and Al, Stephan at Top Cycle, the media team from Dekeizer and the ever-inspirational Mark Cox in the Octomarine van. Not to mention the approx. 25 other volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make everything happen all held together by the incredible organisational skills of Polly Winn at SYM.
